Isco Struggles to Find a New Club in the 2022/23 Mid-Season Transfer Window

Former Real Madrid player, Isco, has been struggling to find a new club during the 2022/23 mid-season transfer window and has resorted to training at home with the help of a personal coach to maintain his fitness and wait for an opportunity to return to playing. The 30-year-old midfielder has been without a team since parting ways with Sevilla on December 21, 2022.

In January, European media reported that Isco could potentially join Union Berlin in the Bundesliga. However, the deal fell through at the last minute due to disagreements during negotiations. Isco even went to Germany for a medical examination, but did not sign a contract. He was also rumored to be interested in joining an MLS team in the United States in 2023, but his high salary demands have deterred potential suitors. According to Salary Sport, Isco was earning 35,000 USD per week while playing for Sevilla.

Isco was once a star player in La Liga and during his nine seasons with Real Madrid, he played in 353 matches, scored 53 goals, and won a collection of dream titles, including 5 Champions League and 3 La Liga championships. Real Madrid accepted losing Isco despite paying 30 million euros to acquire him from Malaga in 2013. However, according to Transfermarkt, Isco is currently only valued at 9 million euros, a significant drop from the 80 million euro transfer fee when he was at the peak of his career four years ago.

Several clubs in Spain, Saudi Arabia, and Turkey are reportedly interested in Isco, but as of yet, he remains without a team. With a release clause in his contract of up to 700 million euros, finding a club willing to take on Isco's high salary demands may prove to be a challenge. Nevertheless, Isco remains optimistic and committed to his personal training regime, waiting for the right opportunity to present itself.
