Dinh Thanh Binh Joins Vietnam National Team for FIFA Days Series

Striker Dinh Thanh Binh has been given an additional call-up to the Vietnam national team as they prepare for the FIFA Days series in June. Coach Philippe Troussier decided to include Thanh Binh in the squad, expanding the list of 33 players previously announced. With this addition, Troussier now has a total of 6 strikers to choose from for the upcoming gathering. The other five strikers already in the squad are Nguyen Van Toan, Nguyen Cong Phuong, Pham Tuan Hai, Nguyen Tien Linh, and Nham Manh Dung.

Born in 1998, Dinh Thanh Binh is set to work with Coach Troussier for the first time at the national team level. However, Thanh Binh is not new to representing Vietnam across different age levels. He was a member of the Vietnam U20 squad that participated in the 2017 U20 World Cup, as well as the U23 team that competed in the 2020 Asian U23 qualifiers. He was also part of the Vietnamese team's preparation for the 2019 Asian Cup.

Thanh Binh was even named in Coach Park Hang-seo's squad for the 2019 Asian Cup finals in the UAE but was unfortunately dropped at the last minute. Since then, he has been absent from most national team gatherings.

After his exclusion, Thanh Binh returned to domestic competitions and dedicated himself to improvement. Initially playing for HAGL's first team since 2016, Thanh Binh faced tough competition for a starting position and was subsequently loaned to Viettel in 2019 and later to the People's Public Security Club (now Hanoi Police) from 2021.

In 2022, Dinh Thanh Binh had a remarkable season, scoring 7 goals to help CAHN secure promotion. As a result, he was selected by HAGL to rejoin their first team for the 2023 season. Under the guidance of coach Kiatisuk Senamuang, Binh received regular playing time and managed to score 1 goal in 8 matches, including 3 as a starter.

The Vietnamese national team is expected to gather in Hanoi from June 5. However, due to his V.League commitments, Thanh Binh and several of his teammates will have to wait until the conclusion of Round 11 (after June 6) to fully focus on the national team preparations.

During this gathering, the Vietnamese team is scheduled to play two international friendly matches. They will face Hong Kong (China) on June 15 at Lach Tray Stadium in Hai Phong and Syria on June 20 at Thien Truong Stadium in Nam Dinh. These matches will provide valuable opportunities for Dinh Thanh Binh and his teammates to showcase their skills and further strengthen the national team ahead of upcoming competitions.
