PSG has expressed its dissatisfaction with Kylian Mbappe's recent announcement regarding his contract renewal and has called on the French international to make a decision about his future soon.
According to The Athletic, PSG has sent a three-page letter to Mbappe, accusing him of causing disruption to the team during the current summer transfer window.
The club claims that Mbappe's public statement declaring his intention not to extend his contract has caused "enormous damage" to PSG. The team argues that such matters should have been dealt with privately.
PSG also criticizes Mbappe for a lack of sincerity in making this announcement at a sensitive time during the transfer window.
The letter concludes with PSG requesting a meeting to address the current situation. L'Equipe reports that PSG has set a deadline of July 31 for Mbappe to decide whether he will extend his contract or be sold.
On July 6, PSG President Nasser Al-Khelaifi expressed his shock and disappointment at Mbappe's desire to leave on a free transfer. He described Mbappe as a great person and a gentleman, stating that his intention to leave as a free agent would weaken the biggest club in France.
Mbappe's current contract with PSG is valid until the summer of 2024. It is believed that Mbappe's plan is to fulfill the remaining year of his contract and then decline the option to extend, thus becoming a free agent.
