After 14 years of dedicated service at Hoang Anh Gia Lai (HAGL) Club, Trieu Viet Hung has confirmed the end of his training contract with the team based in Pleiku. Expressing his gratitude, Viet Hung took to his personal page to thank HAGL for the transformative journey he experienced during his time at the club, considering it his second home. He also extended his well wishes for the future success of HAGL Club, bidding them a temporary farewell.
The leaders of HAGL Club revealed that they had agreed to let Viet Hung move to Hai Phong Club for an extended period. The new contract spans two seasons, covering 2023/24 and 2024/25. Viet Hung had previously played for Hai Phong for two years in the 2022 and 2023 seasons.
The acquisition of Viet Hung by Hai Phong Club was the result of productive discussions between the two clubs. Head coach Chu Dinh Nghiem expressed his desire to negotiate with HAGL's leadership to secure the midfielder, Hai Duong. Nghiem, highly impressed by Viet Hung's abilities, even aimed to build a squad around him to enhance the team's performance upon his return to lead the port team. Ultimately, Nghiem's efforts paid off, resulting in the successful acquisition of Viet Hung.
Viet Hung's professional career began in the 2016-2021 seasons at HAGL. Due to strong competition from midfielders of the 1995 generation, such as Tuan Anh, Xuan Truong, and even Cong Phuong, Viet Hung was often loaned out as he struggled to secure a prominent role in the team's lineup.
