Mauricio Pochettino Unfazed as Mason Mount Leaves Chelsea for Manchester United

Coach Mauricio Pochettino has not had the opportunity to meet Mason Mount before the transfer to Manchester United was completed. "When I talk about the future, it's about the players in our squad," said Coach Pochettino. "Mount is now a Manchester United player. I don't know what happened in the past. We need to focus on our players and continue building a good story."

"I'm proud of my time at Spurs, but now I need to look ahead and focus on meeting the expectations of everyone here. Hopefully, we can build a good relationship," the Argentine manager emphasized.

According to British media, Coach Pochettino had intended to keep Mount at his former club, Tottenham Hotspur. The English midfielder was seen as fitting into the football philosophy of the new Chelsea captain.

Pochettino also enjoyed Mount's style of play and personally suggested that the player stay. However, a conflict arose when Chelsea offered Mount a contract extension but the proposed salary increase was not substantial.

At Chelsea, Mount's current salary is reported to be less than £100,000 per week, making it one of the lowest among the team. On the other hand, Manchester United contacted Mount and expressed a willingness to offer him a significantly higher salary, potentially reaching £250,000 per week.

Additionally, Coach Erik ten Hag of Manchester United also outlined a plan for Mount's role in the squad, which influenced the 22-year-old player's decision to leave the club where he had been since his youth.
