Recent reports have suggested that Chelsea has opened negotiations to sign Neymar, the Brazilian superstar currently playing for Paris Saint-Germain (PSG). However, it may not be a wise move for Chelsea, considering the club's current direction under the new owner.

Telegraph has revealed that Chelsea's leadership values Neymar highly and is willing to invest significant sums of money to convince PSG to sell the player. However, Neymar himself seems to believe that his peak career years are behind him. With Chelsea undergoing a comprehensive transformation, shifting towards a more youthful squad, pursuing the Neymar deal appears to be unreasonable.

Neymar, who is currently recovering from ankle surgery, has faced criticism throughout his career for frequent injuries and a perceived lack of focus on his profession. Despite contributing 118 goals and winning five titles at PSG's Parc des Princes, the Brazilian forward has been plagued by injuries, forcing him to miss a significant number of games.

In the 2021/22 season alone, Neymar was sidelined for nearly three months due to an ankle problem. Similarly, in the 2020/21 season, he missed almost a month of action due to a sprain. Since joining PSG, Neymar has missed over 100 games, accounting for 43% of the matches played during his time at the French club. Given his status as the most expensive player in the world, Neymar's injury record raises concerns about his effectiveness.

Considering Chelsea's desire to build a sustainable and successful team for the future, investing heavily in Neymar, who has been prone to injuries and is entering a different stage of his career, may not be the most practical or strategic choice. The club would be better off focusing on more practical and reliable targets to strengthen their squad.
